Who Are Your Everyday Heroes?

Who Are Your Everyday Heroes?

I was glancing through my social media news feed and happened to notice how many articles, pictures, and comments were circulated about celebrities.

It made me wonder how much time and energy is actually spent following and watching them.

Many celebrities give their time and energy to helping others and I don’t want to take attention away from them or their causes.

But unfortunately there are also many celebrities (you probably know who they are) who seem to really give very little back to society beyond selfies and trying to just promote themselves and their brands.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if rather than following and celebrating these celebrities we started a new trend that recognizes and celebrates our everyday heroes.

So if I were to ask you who are your everyday heroes – what would you say?

Personally, I am really fortunate and have many everyday heroes in my life.  Here’s just a few examples;

  • I have a friend who is a school teacher.  In the school where she teaches there are children whose parents just can’t afford all the necessary school supplies.  Every year she personally buys and pays for school supplies for these kids so they don’t go without.
  • My father-in-law at age 84 drives people in his community for medical appointments, job interviews, groceries or whatever else they may need.
  • My children played sports for years.  We had so many volunteer coaches and managers that generously gave their time, dedication andhero commitment to support the kids in our community.

So what would happen if we spent as much time admiring our everyday heroes as much as we did some of these celebrities?

Would we be more inspired, productive and positive as a society?

But our everyday heroes don’t do what they do for fame and fortune.

I think the following touching video sheds a little light on why they do it…. and maybe gives each of us the inspiration to also strive to be an everyday hero!
