Purpose – Everyone Needs One

Purpose – Everyone Needs One

Having a purpose in your life – and in your retirement – is a very good thing.

In an article published by the Wall Street Journal, they shared part of an interview they conducted with Dr. Patricia A. Boyle, a neuropsychologist and researcher for the Rush Memory and Aging Project.

Dr. Boyle was involved in research that found the value that having a purpose in life can have. Their findings discovered that not only can purpose contribute to slowing down cognitive decline it can also promote a healthier and longer life.

In the following video from the White House, US President Obama searches for his new life’s meaning and purpose for himself as he turns from “Commander and Chief” to “Couch Commander”.

This humorous video does a very good job of pointing out that we should all probably have a purpose for how we will fill our days once we leave our jobs – no matter who we are.
