New Year’s Resolutions – Should We Even Bother?

New Year’s Resolutions – Should We Even Bother?

By Susan Williams

There is something sort of intoxicating about the thought of starting a New Year.

Whether it’s the opening of a new calendar that isn’t cluttered already with commitments or the idea that you can close the book on the past year and have a brand new one waiting for you that is wide open for new possibilities.

Often attached to the start of a new year is New Years resolutions. Usually these are things that we would like to change in our lives that we think will make our lives better.

So often it’s things like losing weight, exercising more, eating healthier – but the question that is often asked is whether it makes a difference committing to these activities at New Years rather than any other time.

As it turns out it just might.

In the following video by Dr. Evans on New Years resolutions, a study found that there was a higher likelihood that those that made their resolutions at New Years rather than any other time actually stuck with them longer.

So go on – make those resolutions.

Anything that can help us change our lives to be more positive and satisfying can’t be bad for us – no matter what time of year it is.
