Homeshare: A Possible Win-Win Living Arrangement

Homeshare: A Possible Win-Win Living Arrangement

By Susan Williams

It seems like a simple enough idea.

An older person needs help living alone in their home and has some room to spare. Another person needs somewhere to live and has some time to provide support.

This simple concept has since developed into an international program around the world known as Homeshare.

According to the Homeshare website, the program initially launched in the US in 1972 and has since expanded to fifteen other locations across the globe.

The following video is an example of how the Homeshare program is operating in the UK.

People helping people – seems like this might be a win-win situation for everyone involved.
