You spent your career developing and honing your skills. These would really now be appreciated and valued by many organizations – especially non profits.

Volunteer

One of the best ways to find out about an organization that you may be interested in is to volunteer. This way they would get to know you and you can get to know them.

Reposition Your Resume

Update your resume to align more towards the type of work you would now like to do.

Be Physically, Financially and Spiritually Fit

When you are fit, people will sense your “can do” spirit and attitude. As well, if you are financially fit, you may be able to take on new challenges that are of a larger personal interest to you without being concerned about the monetary payments.

Keep Your Resume Alive and Skills Current

By staying active you will keep your resume and skills more current. As well, your network will continue to grow .

Figure Out What You Really Want To Do

When you know what you really want to do, chances are you will more likely find it.

Realize Transition Takes Time

Kerry mentioned that most of the successful transitions that she has seen have taken between 3 to 5 years to happen. These transitions do not happen overnight.
